Blueberries and huckleberries although related, are not the same. One obvious difference is that the blueberry has many soft, tiny almost unnoticeable seeds, while the huckleberry has ten larger, hard seeds. Blueberries are also more blue, while huckleberries are blackish blue or redish black. This red/black variety is also called southern cranberry.

Huckleberries are a crop that as of yet cannot be domesticated - though some areas are experimenting with mechanical harvesters, for the most part they are hand-picked in their native habitat.

Blueberry Or
Huckleberry Jam
Yield: 6 servings

4 1/2 c Berries
1 Bottle fruit pectin
7 c Sugar
1 Lemon

Instructions 1. Wash fruit thoroughly. Crush. Add lemon juice. Add
grated rind of 1/2 lemon. Add sugar. Mix thoroughly. Heat rapidly to full rolling boil. Stir constantly before and while boiling. Boil hard 2 minutes. Remove from fire and stir in fruit pectin. Skim. from www.ichef.com
